Under the supervision of the AVP of Privacy, Compliance and Health Information Management, the HIM Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring day-to-day HIM departmental clerical activities, such as reviewing medical charts for deficiencies and assisting medical staff regarding completion of charts.
This position will also provide support to the department by entering all release of information requests in our electronic medical record, performs other duties as needed and must have specialized knowledge of medical chart format, health information management procedures, hospital organization and medical terminology.
This is a temporary position with Part Time hours (flexible schedule:
option of days, evenings or weekends)Responsibilities Include:

Organize, plan, schedule, monitor and control the activities of the HIM - ROI section.
Understands and practices proper release of information for patients, physician offices, subpoenas, state and federal governing agencies maintaining confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies and HIPAA privacy regulations.
Accurately prepares correspondence, documents, forms and ad hoc projects in a timely manner.
Appropriately, accurately and timely prepares, scans, indexes and faxes health record per department standards to meet established company standards.
Establishes and maintains effective filing systems, provides excellent departmental telephone coverage, and completes additional clerical duties as assigned.
Reads and responds to emails in a timely manner.
Checks the fax machine throughout the shift, screening for and processing urgent requests and routing all incoming reports/correspondence to the appropriate department.
Reviews health records post discharge to identify missing items such as signatures and reports.
Analyzes records, follows through and is engaged in locating and securing missing documents.
Enters all ROI request into our electronic medical record system.
Assist the HIM Leader with Records Management duties.
Enters all data into Press Ganey for The Joint Commission quarterly reporting.
Assists in reconciling retrieved medical records against patient discharge listings.
Performs all and any additional duties as needed to assist the health information department.
Performs other tasks, as assigned.
Qualifications:

High school or equivalent.
1
years of Health Information Management clerical experience required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
