POSITION
Summary:
This position serves as an HR Relationship Manager and business consultant for the Biomedical Services business unit of the American Red Cross. The HR Relationship Manager works to strengthen the employer-employee relationship, to provide strategic leadership and influence, to engage clients in solving challenges using effective human capital management strategies, and to ensure the business has the tools and skills necessary to meet the organization's business goals and mission.
The HR Relationship Manager works with their team of HR Business Partners to deliver of a wide range of strategic HR services to employees and leadership. This includes: key partnership with clients on their business initiatives, employee relations, workplace investigations, labor relations, performance management, employee engagement, workforce planning, and training and development. This position requires well-rounded knowledge as an HR generalist, familiar with every discipline within HR to formulate workforce strategies that meet organizational goals and develop strategic solutions on employment-related issues. The HR Relationship Manager also provides day-to-day counsel and advice to management and executive leaders within the business.
The HR Relationship Manager collaborates with the HR Centers of Expertise to deliver HR programs on organizational design, management development, and employee performance management trainings that are designed to meet organizational and performance goals. This position also partners with the Talent Acquisition and Total Rewards teams on recruitment strategies, career development and compensation and benefits programs.
The position supports the Northeast Region of Red Cross' Biomedical Services. This region includes New England and most of the North East. The position will be based at the Red Cross Biomedical facility in Dedham, MA.
As a member of the HR Service Delivery team within Human Resources department, the HR Relationship Manager reports to the VP, HR Service Delivery.
Key
Responsibilities:
Responsible for partnering and helping to facilitate HR Service Delivery initiatives to assigned business units.
Manage and lead a team of geographically dispersed HR Business Partners. Partner with HRBPs on escalated issues within the organization.
Function as a true business partner to provide management & executives with advice on key business objectives and execute on those strategies to solve business challenges.
Consult to management & executives in key HR areas including employee and labor relations, employee engagement, coaching, workforce planning, HR trainings, and performance management.
Consult with management & executives on application/interpretation of state and federal laws and regulations, HR policies, performance issues, transfer, terminations and promotions and employee problem resolution. Influence business leaders through certain scenarios.
Work with management & executives within the business unit and Organizational Development to deliver and facilitate trainings and developmental opportunities for client groups. This includes performance management, succession/workforce planning, compensation/benefits, organization/team development, and change management.
Maintain knowledge of labor/union issues and best practices in order to promote positive labor relations. Establish strong relationships with union leadership in region, internal labor team and outside counsel to understand & manage through a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Monitor employee climate to identify issues/trends and develop recommendations for problem solving with business units as appropriate. Develop solutions to implement with the business units.
Ensure compliance with established internal HR policies and procedures and regulatory requirements and conduct periodic audits, as needed/required.
Manage specific projects as determined by the HR Senior Leadership Team and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices, continued business acumen and key trends.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, organizational development, or a related degree required. PHR/SPHR preferred.
Ten years of experience in Human Resources business consulting.
5-7 years people management experience and prefer experience with managing a remote team.
Extensive experience in employee relations, labor relations (required) and delivery on a wide range of strategic HR initiatives.
Proven ability and experience at consulting, advising and influencing senior business leaders.
Multi- site responsibility, with large groups of employee population preferred.
Strong business and financial acumen
Broad knowledge of employment law, compensation, compliance and organizational development.
Experience operating and managing in a highly matrix structure & virtual work environment.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create, influence, and maintain collaborative work relationships with business leaders, peers and HR partners.
Demonstrated problem solving, project management, organization & prioritization skills.
Knowledge of HRIS systems (we use Workday) and basic HR metrics & data to support business leaders/decisions
Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
Ability to travel up to 30% over night travel & day trips around to Red Cross locations in the New England & North East area for daytrips to build relationships and visibility with business leaders and union management.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
